Cookie and Storage Policy
This policy applies from 1 November 2026.
1. The short answer
AgriVale uses no analytics, no advertising, no tag managers, no tracking pixels and no session replay. Nothing on AgriVale follows you around, builds a profile of you or reports what you do to an advertiser.
We use one routine cookie, which signs you in, plus a small number of things stored in your own browser to remember choices you made about how the screen looks. None of them identifies you to anyone else.
That is why there is no cookie banner. Irish ePrivacy rules — the European Communities (Electronic Communications Networks and Services) (Privacy and Electronic Communications) Regulations 2011 (S.I. No. 336 of 2011) — require consent before storing or reading anything on your device that is not strictly necessary for the service you asked for. We do not store or read anything that falls outside that exemption, so there is nothing to ask you about. If that ever changes, we will update this policy and ask for your consent before the change takes effect, not after.
This policy sits alongside the Privacy Policy.
2. What we mean by cookies and storage
A cookie is a small file a website asks your browser to keep and send back on later visits. Browsers also offer other small stores — local storage, session storage and a browser database — that a site can write to. A service worker cache holds copies of a site's own files so a web app can start quickly and show something useful when the network fails.
The rules treat all of these the same way, so this policy covers all of them.
3. Cookies
| Name | Who sets it | What it is for | Strictly necessary? | How long |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| sb-(project)-auth-token — sometimes split into parts ending .0 and .1 | AgriVale (first party) | Holds your signed-in session. Without it you cannot stay signed in | Yes | Up to 400 days, the default of the authentication library we use. Removed when you sign out |
| av_admin_pin | AgriVale (first party) | Records that an AgriVale administrator has passed an extra PIN check. Only ever set for AgriVale's own administrators — never for a farmer or an advisor | Yes, for administrators | 12 hours |
That is the complete list. There are no others.
4. Things we keep in your browser that are not cookies
These are stored by your own browser, stay on your device, and are never sent to us or to anyone else. They exist so the app opens the way you left it.
| What is stored | Where you meet it | What it remembers |
|---|---|---|
| agriplan.sidebar.collapsed | Farm web app | Whether you collapsed the sidebar |
| adv-rail-collapsed | Advisor portal | Whether you collapsed the side rail |
| agricore-prod-tab | Production | The production tab you were last on |
| agricore-prod-grass-seg | Production | The grass view you were last on |
| agricore-tasks-view | Tasks | The task view you chose |
| agricore-comp-tab | Compliance | The compliance tab you were last on |
| agrivale.advisor.pushDismissed | Advisor portal | That you dismissed the notifications prompt, so it stops asking |
| agrivale.advisor.installDismissed | Advisor portal | That you dismissed the "install this app" prompt |
| adv-learn-callout-dismissed | Advisor portal | That you dismissed the Learn callout |
None of these contains an identifier, a name or anything about your farm. Clearing your browser's site data removes them, and the app simply goes back to its default layout.
5. The advisor portal app
The advisor portal can be installed as an app. Two things follow:
- A service worker cache named advisor-v2-shell holds a copy of the portal's own offline page and build files, so the portal can start and show an honest offline message when the network fails. It holds application files, not your data or your clients' data.
- If an advisor turns on browser notifications, their browser creates a push subscription and we store it so that we can send alerts. This is opt-in — nothing is created unless the advisor chooses it — and it can be switched off in the portal or in browser settings at any time. The message itself is encrypted end to end, so the push service that delivers it cannot read the text. It can see that a message was sent, when, and roughly how big it was.
6. Maps
The advisor portal shows a map of a farm's land blocks, drawn by Mapbox.
- We have switched off Mapbox's optional usage telemetry, which would otherwise report performance and device information back to Mapbox.
- Mapbox's own required usage counting stays on. It is how Mapbox meters and bills the service, and it is not something a customer can turn off. Where that map is shown, Mapbox stores two items in your browser's local storage: mapbox.eventData.uuid:(token) and mapbox.eventData:(token). They identify a map session for Mapbox's usage counting.
- Loading the map also means your device contacts Mapbox, so Mapbox receives your IP address, our access token, your device or browser information and the map view you are looking at.
We treat this as necessary to deliver a map you chose to open: without it, Mapbox does not serve the tiles. It is the one third-party item in this policy, and it is set only on the advisor portal screen that shows a map — nowhere else on AgriVale, and not on the public website. Mapbox's own privacy policy is at mapbox.com/legal/privacy.
7. Help videos
Where a Learn article includes a help video, it is hosted on YouTube and loaded from youtube-nocookie.com.
Nothing is requested from YouTube or Google until you tap play, and you see a notice before you do. Until then there is no connection to Google at all, and nothing is stored on your device on Google's behalf.
Once you tap play, the YouTube player loads, and Google then processes your information as an independent controller under its own terms. Google's privacy-enhanced mode means the view will not be used to personalise advertising or YouTube recommendations. It does not mean that nothing is stored or that no data is sent — Google makes no such claim, and neither do we. Google's privacy policy is at policies.google.com/privacy.
8. The AgriVale phone app
Phone apps do not use cookies, but they do keep things on the device:
- Your session, stored encrypted on the device, so you stay signed in.
- Small on-device stores for drafts you have not sent, work queued while you are offline, and your preferences.
- No advertising identifier. We do not use one, and we do not ask for one.
- No location permission. The app does not ask for your device location.
- No push notifications in the farmer app. Alerts and reminders come by WhatsApp, SMS or email, and you control them in the app's notification settings.
- Camera and microphone are used only when you choose to scan a tag, photograph a document or record a voice note. Your device asks for permission first and you can withdraw it in your device settings at any time.
Deleting the app removes what it stored on the device.
9. What we do not use
To be explicit, AgriVale uses none of the following, anywhere — not on the website, not in the apps, not in the advisor portal:
- analytics or product-measurement tools;
- advertising, retargeting or conversion pixels;
- tag managers;
- session recording or heatmaps;
- social media plug-ins or share buttons that load third-party code;
- cross-site tracking of any kind.
10. Managing cookies and storage
You can delete cookies and site data, and block cookies, in your browser's settings. If you delete the AgriVale session cookie you will be signed out and will need to sign in again. If you block cookies altogether, AgriVale cannot sign you in and will not work.
On a phone, deleting the app removes what it stored. Camera and microphone permissions are managed in your device settings.
11. Changes to this policy
If we ever add anything that is not strictly necessary, we will update this policy, ask for your consent first, and give you a way to withdraw it.
